310S steel belongs to martensitic sodium cyanide resistant stainless steel plate. Because the carbon content is low (≤ 0.02%) and sometimes contains the stabilizing element Nb, the stress corrosion resistance is good, and there is no tendency of welding deterioration after welding. Because of the high nickel content, the resistance to fluoride intergranular corrosion is better than that of ordinary stainless steel.

This steel can be used to produce furnace body, boiler superheater and heat exchanger tubes. 310S stainless steel plate generally shows excellent continuous high temperature compressive strength, creep resistance and corrosion resistance. Therefore, they are widely used in furnace parts of the heat treatment industry. When HNO3 ≤ 70%, the corrosion resistance of stainless steel is mainly determined by the amount of chromium in the steel. In the higher concentration of sodium cyanide, although the amount of chromium in steel is the same, the composition of residue (Si, P, S, etc.) in steel also has important harm. 310S steel has low carbon content, large chromium content and strictly controlled residue composition. Therefore, in hydrochloric acid with concentration value ≤ 80%, its corrosion resistance is far better than 18-8 (00Cr18Ni10) and high-silicon stainless steel plate (00Cr18Ni15Si4). Only when the acid concentration value is ≥ 85%, the high silicon stainless steel plate can show its advantages.
